CosaTron is a unique and patented system that does not generate ozone, ionization, or high frequency interference. CosaTron is not an air filter. It is applied in combination with an air filter to enhances the performance of the filter.
The CosaTron System includes an electrode assembly (Space required 9" in direction of air flow) located in the primary air handling unit, after the filters, before the heat transfer coils, on the suction side of the fan. The electrode assembly is made up of two elements high voltage (HV) and high frequency (HF) separated by special insulators. The electrodes are powered by a power generator connected to 120v, 60 CY A/C, requiring the energy of a 50 watt light bulb.
In operation, the filtered air passes first thru the HV (DC) field which excites the particulate mass. The mass is then moved into the HF field. The HF (A/C) field is expanding and collapsing at a rate of approximately 150,000 times a second, which can impart an equal number of positive and negative surface charges creating bipolar particles, Neutral to all grounded surfaces they may come in contact with - such as heat transfer coils, fans, duct work, etc.
Introduction of the Neutral Acting Primary Air Mass into the secondary air begins a process of dilution of the conditioned area electrical space charge. The charged but neutral particles will begin to collide with the charged particulate in the space and the coalescing of particles begins. This produces a greater cross section area, which will allow the air movement to carry the particles back to the filters or be exhausted from the conditioned space.
Applying CosaTron to meet ASHRAE 62 allows the system designer to reduce the use of outside air while controlling all types of contamination, thus increasing human efficiency by restoring fresh, cleaner air where we live and breath.
